Editorial Standards and Review Process

Our editorial standards explain how we source each fire inspection requirement, how a credentialed reviewer checks it, how we date it and how we fix mistakes.

Sources first

Every frequency, edition or legal requirement links to the source we used: a state agency, a federal regulation, a standard page, or a fire department handout that summarizes the standard. We never reproduce NFPA text or tables.

Technical review

A credentialed fire protection professional reviews each requirement against the standard and the edition your state adopted. Until that review is done, the page says “Technical review pending”.

Dates

Each page shows when it was last updated. State data shows the date we last checked the agency site.

AI in our research

We use AI tools to gather and organize public sources and to draft summaries. People choose the sources, check the facts and approve every page.

Corrections

We fix confirmed errors and note material changes on the page. Report a correction.
